With climbing gas prices, the cost of higher education, and mass consumerism, the percentage of Americans in debt is swelling. Those in the younger generations are often financially illiterate while most adults see the dangers of debt. This could have an effect on Winter Park real estate in the years ahead.

Kids see superstars living lives of excess and aim to mimic that way of life. Before they enter the adult world, the next generation will be in debt. You can save your children headaches down the line by addressing budgeting now. Your kids can begin with the following things:

Get a job. Don't let a job to get in the way of school, but extra cash is beneficial. Always save. Put some of your paycheck into a savings account. Even if you only put in a few cents here and there, it really adds up. Budget your money. Save receipts from all your expenses and add them up at the end of each month. You will be shocked at what you actually spend. Do not use plastic. Credit cards have added costs. Only use your credit card for emergencies. If nothing else, be careful. Identity theft is common within the younger generations and an increased worry.

Get ahold of someone at Winter Park real estate if you have any other concerns about educating your children about debt.
